Camps
Age range:
Players of all ages (4-17 men and women)
Ball handling:
Athletes will learn how to become comfortable with dribbling the basketball and will
also learn certain moves using a live dribble to create scoring opportunities for
themselves and others
Shooting:
Athletes will learn the basics of shooting the basketball such as:
• Form
• Repetition
• Basic shooting drills (form shooting)
• Use of legs (using your legs as you move farther from basket)
• Shooting games to help one concentrate (beat the pro, 1 and out, etc)
• Location (athletes will learn about the location in which puts them in the best
• position to shoot an effective jumpshot)
• Speed of release (athlete will also learn about the speed of his or her release
and how the faster one learns to shoot the basketball effectively the more he
will be able to get his jumpshot off over taller or quicker defenders)
Conditioning:
• We will utilize training times to train their bodies to be in the best shape possible
Drills will consist of:
• Full court sprints
• Side to side shuttle runs
• Full court ball handling
Situationals:
• Athletes will also be placed in situations depending on their position that will help them
simulate game scenarios:
• Pick and roll work (if training as a point or shooting guard)
• Reading off ball screens (if training as an off guard)
• Pick and roll work ( training as a post player)
• Moves to use during quick isolation playcalling (at any position)
• Moves to use with back facing the basket ( at any position)
Strength and Agility:
• Athletes will also learn to perform certain drills that can help them with strength on the
court (absorbing body contact, holding ground when posting up or defending the post,
or progress while handling the basketball when being resisted) and speed on the court
as well (learning to use angles when attacking, learning to effectively slide and move
their feet while defending, learning how to effectively jump to create better finishing
opportunities around the basket)
Drills such as:
• Padwork with layups
• Dribbling with resistance waist bands
• Posting up with pad resistance
• Rim touches
• Defensive slides
• Stationary work with jab step with a live dribble
