There are many forms of showing respect in the world. Respect, something worldly reknown as one of the biggest forms of acceptance in everyday living. For ALL basketball players nothing sets in and makes you feel better than having that “hoopers respect” from fellow basketball players especially those considered to be “ELITE” basketball players. I wrote a poem expressing how much this can mean to a hooper but I also want to take the time to point out some sayings you may hear and that you also may have that can signal you’ve earned or gained the respect of your peers.
“You got game man/bro”
“ how long you been playing”
“ Way to play/hoop man”
“Where’d you play man(previous level)”
“You got a high IQ”
There are many others I just wanted to point out a few to signify that a “hoopers respect” can mean more than some imagine when playing the game.
What kinds of things do you hear that affirm your abilities to play ball amongst your peers?
How does it make you feel when you hear these things?
